All seams are double reinforced and the mesh is 100% knotless nylon with <4cm (1 1/2 inch) openings. The Slow Bale Buddy is the safest and highest quality low-net hay feeder on the market. It is the only one with a one-year warranty and is the perfect solution for round and square bales of all sizes. Unlike cheaper small mesh bale feeders, which are made from a poly or poly blend that can cause wear on teeth and turf, Slow Bale Buddy's are made from 100% knot-free nylon mesh. Nylon is the strongest and softest of the mesh materials, ensuring that you can use your Bale Buddy for many years without compromising animal health and welfare.

The netting has <4cm (1 1/2 inch) openings, all seams are double stitched and reinforced with double stitched, nylon binding. The net is secured with a special patented safety clamp that eliminates the dangerous tightening straps of other small nets. Once attached, it completely encloses the bale, so animals must pull hay through the holes in the net to eat. The waste hay is almost completely eliminated and aggressive and anxious animals are calmed when they are forced to graze and search for their hay. Overweight animals walk away from the hay without eating too much, which helps to normalise weight. As the hay is always on the surface of the bale, it is ideal for feeding horses with respiratory problems. Slow feeding benefits most animals and is the most natural way to feed hay.

Slow Bale Buddy slow feed nets can be used to feed any hornless animal (horns can stick to the net). Note: hoofed animals can also get their shoes caught in the net so for shod animals it is best to put the net in a container with a rim.

Although Slow Bale Buddy is not used with shoe horses unless used in conjunction with a fixed side feeder, it is perfectly safe to use with all horses (including mini horses) as the holes are too small to become entangled in small hooves. In field trials comparing free-feeding hay and Slow Bale Buddy, most horses preferred to eat from the Slow Feeder.

The Slow Bale Buddy is a patented Small Mesh Hay Net (SMHN) made from 100% nylon woven mesh. Nylon is the softest and strongest of the nets and will not cause wear or abrasion to the animal's teeth and muzzle like poly and poly blend nets. Nylon is very strong, abrasion resistant, UV resistant and naturally white (not bleached). Nylon's natural stain resistance means that the Slow Bale Buddy slow feed hay feeder washes clean at the end of the hay feeding season. The slow feeders are designed to be soft on your animal's muzzle and strong enough to withstand constant stress from teeth and hooves. The bottom center and top opening are marked for easy hay placement. All seams are double stitched and then double nylon tape is sewn over the seams. This ensures that the seams and ties will last a long time. The safety lanyard, which eliminates the dangerous drawstrings of other models, has rounded edges and is made of tough HPE plastic that can withstand 5,000 pounds of pressure.

Mini holds one small square bale 30cmx45cmx110cm

Double Mini (Weekender) holds 2 small square bales 30cmx45cmx110cm or 1 triple strip square bale (Texas square).

Small is suitable for round bales with a diameter of 138cm and a height of up to 122cm (4 feet 5 inches and a height of 4 feet) and can hold 6-8 small square bales (30cmx45cmx110cm).

Medium is suitable for round bales up to 163cm diameter and 122cm height or 152cm x 152cm square (5 feet 4 inches and 4 feet height) and can accommodate 10-12 small square bales (30cmx45cmx110cm).

Large holds round bales up to 183cm diameter and 152cm height (6 feet diameter and 5 feet height), and can hold 16+ small square bales (30cmx45cmx110cm).

Large Quare can accommodate a large square bale up to 244cmx122cmx122xcm (4 x 4 x 8 feet).
