Glucosamine is a substance naturally present in the joints that decreases with age and is therefore used to prevent joint degeneration and maintain joint health. Glucosamine increases cartilage health, protects joint cartilage from degeneration and inhibits the activity of cartilage-destroying enzymes. Glucosamine maintains optimal joint function, slows the development of osteoarthritis and aids joint rehabilitation. The use of glucosamine increases the glucosamine content of synovial fluid. Approximately 90% of oral glucosamine is absorbed.

Chondroitin sulphate is a naturally occurring substance in joints; one of the main building blocks of cartilage, it binds water to cartilage tissue. The joint fluid contains a high concentration of gelatinous hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulphate, which fill the empty spaces in the joints. Chondroitin sulphate acts as a conditioning shock absorber and lubricant in the joints. Chondroitin sulphate improves mobility in diseased joints, reduces cartilage loss in the joint and slows the progression of osteoarthritis.

Cartilage tissue and synovial fluid are particularly rich in hyaluronic acid, which absorbs water to provide elasticity and is important for the binding and elasticity properties of synovial fluid. In normal joints, hyaluronic acid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber and softens the impact on the joints. Hyaluronic acid is a normal constituent of synovial fluid, which is reduced in the presence of inflammation. Hyaluronic acid lubricates the joint, maintains normal fluid balance, restores normal joint function and improves joint mobility. Hyaluronic acid is also an important building block of cartilage tissue.

Rosehip is effective in maintaining joint function and well-being, good for the stomach, skin, hair and hooves, a real health bomb: high in vitamins C and E and fibre. Rosehip has traditionally been used to prevent anaemia. Rosehip is used effectively to maintain joint function and well-being. Rosehip is an excellent addition to the diet, especially for horses under heavy strain and older horses. The active ingredient is rose hip galactolipid. Rose hip contains a considerable amount of vitamin C. Rose hip contains, among other things, bioflavonoids, antioxidants, amino acids, glucose, beta-carotene, copper, potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, selenium, omega-3 acids, fluoride, vitamins A, K, D, B6, etc. Rose hip also contains pectin, a soluble fibre that helps to lubricate the intestinal tract. In addition, rose hip sorbitol prevents stomach acidity and increases saliva secretion.

Collagens need to be broken down into amino acids to allow transport to the sites of action. The collagens are processed, "pre-melted", into amino acid chains, resulting in an easily digestible and absorbable product - collagen hydrolysate, which is broken down in the body into amino acids and bioactive collagen peptides. Collagens activate the body's own collagen production when used internally. Collagens provide mechanical resistance to tissues due to their high tensile strength. Type I collagen, which forms long strands in the cell membrane, is the most abundant protein collagen in the body; it is found in bone in particular, but also in tendons, ligaments and dermis of the skin, among others. In contrast, cartilage is largely composed of type II collagen strands. Specially optimised bioactive collagen peptides promote the growth of cartilage structures and thus resist the wear and tear caused by ageing and excess stress. Thus, oral supplementation improves joint health and keeps them moving for longer. In Criollo products, collagens are bioactive.

Yucca is rich in saponins which help nourish joints, yucca also helps maintain optimal intestinal pH and increases energy levels by releasing glucose in the liver, which helps maintain the endurance needed for exertion.
